Hotel Schwarzwald Panorama wins the Green Sleeping Award 2025

22.09.2025

The hotel in Bad Herrenalb has been committed to sustainability for years—including when it comes to beds: Editor-in-chief Jens Rosenbaum from the trade magazine “Schlafen Spezial” presented the award at HSMAday.

The Green Sleeping Award, presented by the trade media Schlafen Spezial and Cost & Logis, went in 2025 to a hotel that has long been considered a pioneer in the industry for its commitment: the Schwarzwald Panorama in Bad Herrenalb. Hotelier Stephan Bode has been focusing on sustainability and circularity for many years, with clear guidelines for suppliers who must provide evidence of environmentally friendly products and certifications. As a result, the latest renovation exclusively used partners such as Fritz Schlecht SHL and Swissfeel, both of which have an EcoVadis rating, among other things.

Despite numerous awards in the past, Stephan Bode accepted the honor personally and was visibly moved. In his acceptance speech during HSMAday, the industry event of HSMA Deutschland e.V. with over 350 participants, he encouraged the hotel industry to take steps toward circular solutions. “It's not about implementing everything perfectly right away, but about getting started and continuing to develop consistently,” said hotelier Stephan Bode.

With this initiative, Swissfeel has been supporting the industry for years in implementing sustainable concepts in practice and further developing existing processes. “We warmly congratulate Mr. Bode and his Hotel Schwarzwald Panorama on this special honor. It once again highlights how important sustainable and hygienic sleeping comfort is for the future of the hotel industry. With our solutions, we are making a measurable contribution to combining the highest standards of sustainability, health, and cost-effectiveness,” explains Philipp Hangartner, owner of Swissfeel.

The Swiss company is considered a pioneer in circular hotel mattresses. The fully washable and recyclable products have been proven to reduce the carbon footprint by up to 77 percent, as confirmed by scientific studies. In addition to EcoVadis certification, Swissfeel also has OEKO-TEX certification and the “Suitable for dust mite allergy sufferers” certificate from Service Allergie Suisse SA, a subsidiary of aha! Allergy Center Switzerland. With its established take-back and washing service, the company not only significantly extends the life of its mattresses, but also closes the product cycle by offering free recycling at the end of their useful life. With its specially developed SWISSFEEL-2-CYCLE, the manufacturer is the only one to offer a dual recycling system, opening up new perspectives for the hotel industry in terms of sustainability, hygiene, and sleeping comfort.
