Last event on May 20 in Rostock - experts will show in a practical way how hotels can act in a legally compliant and economically sustainable manner and where suppliers should be held accountable.
tuttgart and Frankfurt have so far been the stops where the industry has been informed in detail about the current legal situation in terms of sustainability. Together with preferred partners and other experts, the German Hotel Association (IHA) e.V. will present all points relevant to the hotel industry in a compact and clear manner at this roadshow - the next and last date for this year is May 20, 2025 in Rostock. This also includes the areas in which the hotel industry can or should delegate its responsibility back to its suppliers. The knowledge imparted, enriched with practical examples and tips for implementation, provides the industry with the necessary overview to be able to recognize the individual need for action.
It is important to note that certain regulations have not lost their validity and can lead to severe penalties if disregarded. Examples will also be used on site to illustrate how the topic of sustainability has already found its way into important regulations, such as the catalog of criteria for hotel classification, and what implications this has with regard to hygiene and the resulting liability issues. One message of the event is not to view sustainability in isolation, but to recognize the associated opportunities and risks.
Using the example of the lowest common denominator in the industry, the mattress, the advantages of using a cycle-based system are also shown, as well as the relief and legal certainty this gives the hotel - also in economic terms.
“It is of great value to the industry to be able to fall back on ready-made solutions from suppliers such as Swissfeel, which solve current problems at a stroke and thus free up the necessary resources to take care of other tasks”,
says Markus Luthe, Managing Director of the German Hotel Association (IHA).
The Swissfeel Group from Switzerland, with branches in Germany and Austria, already meets all the requirements of the new criteria catalog, is EcoVadis certified and is the only company in Europe to offer a double cycle system for its fully washable hotel mattresses with SWISSFEEL-2-CYCLE, in addition to high sleeping comfort.
Philipp Hangartner, owner of Swissfeel AG, adds:
“The danger with the issue of sustainability, especially in light of the legislative changes in Brussels, is to put it on the back burner. In reality, the clock is ticking. Anyone who doesn't tackle this issue now or simply sleeps through it will be in for a rude awakening later.”
