Free returns, dual circulation, and expansion of washing and logistics facilities – Swissfeel is upgrading and positioning itself as a pioneer in sustainable bed hygiene for the hotel industry.
In May of this year, the Federal Council approved the motion submitted by the state of Hesse regarding a “genuine circular economy for mattresses” – resolution document 206/25 (B) – thereby calling on the German federal government to swiftly initiate the relevant legislative procedures. This sends a clear signal in terms of sustainability, particularly as mattresses are at the heart of this initiative.
Philipp Hangartner, owner of Swissfeel, on the strategic relevance of current developments: "With the Federal Council's decision, mattresses are finally being brought into the focus of the circular economy. For us, this is both confirmation and motivation. Swissfeel stands for a consistently sustainable solution ‘Made in Switzerland’ that not only gives hoteliers legal certainty, but also makes a real contribution to greater hygiene, cost-effectiveness, and environmental awareness."
he hospitality industry is therefore facing a transformation. Given the long-term investment cycles for mattresses, it is important to proactively consider recycling aspects when purchasing new products. This is the only way to avoid costly surprises in the future. This is exactly where Swissfeel comes in: the manufacturer of fully washable and recyclable mattresses already offers its customers free returns, protecting them from potential cost risks arising from new legal requirements. With its circular hotel mattress system, based on a double cycle of washing to extend product life and subsequent complete recycling, Swissfeel already meets current and foreseeable requirements. The company even complies with the special rules of hotelstars.eu and DEHOGA on hotel bed hygiene thanks to its own facilities, including a pick-up and delivery service for hoteliers. To meet growing demand, Swissfeel is also currently investing in the expansion of its washing and logistics site in Burgdorf near Hanover; an additional drying facility will significantly increase daily throughput, while a planned energy recovery partnership will further optimize efficiency. Technicians have been on site over the past few days to set up the facility.
"This facility is necessary to ensure that the cleaned mattresses can be thoroughly dried and mold growth prevented. This enables us to guarantee a long-lasting and hygienic hotel mattress," explains Kai Rittmeier, senior engineer at Swissfeel.
At the same time, Swissfeel is expanding its reach through partnerships with external laundry service providers to offer its services nationwide in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland—a logical step toward sustainable and reliable bed hygiene solutions for the hotel industry.
