The winner of the Hotel Bed Award, which will be presented during the BUSCHE GALA on October 24, 2022, in the "GREEN SLEEPING" category, will also receive an additional sponsorship award worth €2,300!
Hotels can now register and participate in the award. Winners will be invited to the BUSCHE GALA on October 24, 2022, at the renowned HOTEL DER ÖSCHBERGHOF in Donaueschingen, where the GREEN SLEEPING Award will be presented.
SWISSFEEL is sponsoring a €2,500 endowment award through the DEUTSCHE HOTELAKADEMIE (DHA) for the next GREEN SLEEPING Award.
The Swiss manufacturer of sustainable hotel mattresses, SWISSFEEL, and sponsor of the award, aims to set another milestone with a sustainability scholarship to promote both sustainability in the industry and the next generation. The hotel winning the GREEN SLEEPING Award will not only receive the prestigious accolade but also a voucher to attend the newly introduced "Sustainability Management" seminar by the DEUTSCHE HOTELAKADEMIE (DHA), valued at €2,500.
"The production of high-quality, locally made products combined with a responsible use of resources has been one of the core principles of SWISSFEEL’s corporate philosophy since the beginning. At the same time, we offer hoteliers a high level of hygiene, as our mattresses are fully washable, significantly extending their lifespan. However, to successfully implement true sustainability and hygiene in hotel beds on a daily operational basis, the hotel teams need strong commitment. This dedication is exactly what the Busche publishing house intends to honor with its established BUSCHE GALA. We are therefore particularly pleased to actively support this initiative with a sponsorship award. Through the sustainability scholarship, we aim to set another milestone: promoting not only sustainability but also the next generation," says Philipp Hangartner, CEO of SWISSFEEL AG.
Merle Losem, Managing Director of the DEUTSCHE HOTELAKADEMIE (DHA), adds: "With our joint part-time training program in sustainability management, we, together with our partner, have developed a program that imparts valuable expertise to professionals and executives. Sustainability is an integral part of corporate culture and strategy that needs to be embedded. This goes beyond ecological responsibility to include economic performance and social equality."
By supporting the Hotel Bed Award in the "GREEN SLEEPING" category, SWISSFEEL continues its longstanding commitment to promoting sustainability. With the introduction of an annual scholarship awarded alongside the GREEN SLEEPING Award, SWISSFEEL aims to nurture the next generation in the hospitality industry. For years, the company has collaborated with universities and technical colleges to support students in both theory and practice. This involves sparking interest in sustainability-related solutions, fostering talent, and contributing to research and development of technical processes. Currently, a group of young technicians is being given the opportunity to gain insights into sustainable mattress practices. These students, on their way to becoming certified technicians, are collaborating in SWISSFEEL's research and development department near Burgdorf in the Hanover region to optimize water and energy use in mattress washing. As long product lifespan is a key aspect of sustainability, SWISSFEEL’s washable mattresses significantly contribute to resource conservation and environmental protection. Their lifespan is up to three times longer than conventional mattresses due to their washability.
The GREEN SLEEPING Award is open to all hotels that register on the free HOTEL-BED-CHECK platform and complete the Quick Check available there. This check defines the basic minimum standards for hotel beds. Those who meet these standards gain access to the questionnaire regarding the sustainability of their hotel beds. In the third stage, winners are determined based on defined criteria and invited to the GREEN SLEEPING Award ceremony during the BUSCHE GALA on October 24, 2022, at the renowned HOTEL DER ÖSCHBERGHOF in Donaueschingen.
